Sharon Kaye Harrel died on October 3, 2016, in Katy, TX at the age of 72. Sharon is survived by her son Chuck Harrel, her daughter Lori Kelley, her sister Pam Forni, and her grandchildren Jaxon, Hunter, Julia and Jadon. Sharon was born on July 17, 1944, in Gatesville, TX to Thomas and Virgie Veazey. She graduated from high school in Lovington, NM. She later attended Eastern New Mexico University and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. After graduation, she moved to Carlsbad, NM, where she taught high school. Sharon retired from teaching in 1998. Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Harrel, in 1963. The couple raised their two children in Carlsbad where they lived until they retired from teaching. In 2002, Wayne and Sharon moved Katy, TX, where they enjoyed their grandchildren's activities and actively participated in their local neighborhood groups. Sharon was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family and friends will always remember her compassion, generosity, and kindness. Sharon will be buried in a private ceremony on October 10, 2016. A memorial will take place on October 6 at 4:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Katy, TX to remember and celebrate Sharon's life.
