Sharon Kay HuntDeWittSharon K. Hunt, 81, died June 11, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. Sharon was born on September 5, 1935. She was one of seven children. She lived all her life in the DeWitt area, graduating from DeWitt High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Hunt, on January 7, 1955. They adored each other and their five children. Sharon was active her whole life raising her children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. She worked for the St. Johns Public Schools (Riley Elementary) and the State of Michigan (Department of Mental Health). She was a lifelong Hobby Club member. After retiring, she traveled extensively with Don and her family and worked tirelessly on her flower gardens. She also belonged to the Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered in the Hospital Gift Shop. Sharon loved her family, friends, and neighbors and was always ready with a hug and warm smile for everyone. She loved to celebrate any event and cheered every victory - large or small. She was a great cheerleader, listener, and a wonderful friend. Sharon was predeceased by her husband, Don, her grandson Jackson Kyes, her great-granddaughter Abbey Curtiss, her parents, Bob and Rosella Ballard, her brother Bobby Ballard, and her sister Pam Ballard. She is survived by her extensive, loving family: children, Jeffrey (Penny), Gregory (Laurie), Tamara (Eric) Kirschenbauer, Bethann (Alan) Cregg, and Darcie (Jeff) Kyes; eleven grandchildren, Kammy Frayre, Jason Hunt, Erica Busick, Brooks Kirschenbauer, Tyler Hunt, Trevor Hunt, Conner Hunt, Cade Hunt, Hannah Cregg, John Kyes and Madeline Kyes and nine great-grandchildren, Harley Curtiss, Carson and Brody Frayre, Gavin Hunt, Owen and Myles Busick, Gregory and Grant Hunt, and Carly Hunt. Sharon is also survived by her sisters, Candy Boyd and Dee (Gary) Janz and brothers Lloyd (Margie) Ballard and Bill (Cheryl) Ballard and many, many dear nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors Thursday June 15, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt Chapel. Funeral Service will take place 11 am Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N. Bridge St., DeWitt with visitation one hour prior.
