Shanita Lachelle Wilson, born on July 31, 1985, at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, peacefully departed this world, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love, strength, and selflessness. Shanita was the cherished firstborn of Michelle Wilson and Andre Johnson and the oldest of six siblings: Monica wright, Brandi Turner, Breanna Wilson, Tyrone Wilson, and Tijuana Wilson. As a young girl, Shanita embraced her role as the protective and caring oldest sister, creating an unbreakable bond with each of her siblings.
Shanita's early education took place at Raymond Elementary School, and she later earned her GED from Ada S. McKenzie High School, demonstrating her determination and drive. At the age of 17, Shanita became a mother, giving birth to her first child, Dawyne Roger. Two years later, she welcomed her second son, Dequan Jacox. In 2015, she gave birth to her only daughter, Arianna Dockery, and in 2020, she joyfully welcomed her youngest son, Darius Ladner. Shanita was a devoted mother who believed in the power of natural childbirth and poured all her love and energy into raising her children, despite the challenges life threw her way. Her unwavering love for her children, family, and friends was the core of her being, always offering support and care even when times were tough.
Shanita’s journey took her to various places, including Joliet, Chicago, Minnesota, and Colorado. Wherever she went, she was surrounded by love and touched the lives of many. Her ability to uplift and help others, despite not always having much herself, left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
A gifted and powerful soul, Shanita had a unique ability to create music that united and inspired those around her. She was an active member of the music group SDMB, where her talent and passion for music flourished, helping to influence and connect with others through her words and melodies. She was also a respected member of the Flincity family, contributing her wisdom, energy, and kindness to the community.
Shanita’s spirituality was an integral part of her life. She found peace and strength in her spiritual practices, including her love for crystals and daily affirmations. Her connection to the spiritual world allowed her to help many others on their own journeys of self-discovery and healing.
In her professional life, Shanita was known for her hard work and dedication. She thrived as a server, where her exceptional customer service skills made her a beloved figure at Wilma's Famous BBQ. Her warm personality and friendly demeanor earned her the admiration of both colleagues and customers. In recognition of her impact, a memorial painting of Shanita now adorns the wall at their downtown location.
Shanita leaves behind a profound legacy of love. She is survived by her four children, Dawyne, Dequan, Arianna, Darius; and god daughters Treasure J White her loving mother, Michelle Wilson; father, Andre Johnson; her siblings, nieces, nephews, Aunt's uncles grandparents and other family members in friends who were fortunate to experience her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. Shanita also leaves behind her partner, James “Jr” Ladner, and her best friends Ashley white, Carla Cathion and Ariel shedrick who were like family to her.
