We are gathered here today to mourn the loss of Shamir Valerio, who passed away on January 18, 2026, at the young age of 40 in Lillington, North Carolina. Shamir was born on January 3, 1986, to his beloved mother Maria Valerio.

Shamir is survived by his son Jaivon, who inherited his love for basketball, his sisters Karen, Yvonne and Renee. He is also survived by his long-term partner Jeannette, nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and friends.

Shamir was known for his amazing sense of humor and infectious laughter. He had a knack for lifting the spirits of those around him, even in the darkest of times. His jokes were legendary and could always brighten up a room.

Although Shamir is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. We will always cherish the moments we shared with him and the laughter he brought into our lives.

Rest in peace, Shamir. May you keep them laughing in heaven.
