It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Serena Harris, who left this world too soon on July 5, 2024, at the age of 23. Serena was born on July 3, 2001, in Kinston, North Carolina, to her loving parents John Ervin Holmes and Eresteen Harris.

Serena leaves behind two children, Josiah Harris and Leilani Palacios, who were the light of her life. She loved them more than anything, except maybe for her collection of mismatched socks, which she adamantly refused to throw away.

Serena had a unique sense of humor that could make even the grumpiest of people crack a smile. She had a knack for finding the silver lining in any situation, even if it meant making a joke at her own expense. Her quick wit and infectious laughter will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

One of Serena's favorite pastimes was baking, although her creations were not always a hit with her friends and family. Her famous "burnt to a crisp" cookies will forever live in infamy, but we will always remember the love and care she put into each and every batch.

Despite her untimely passing, Serena's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. We will cherish the memories we shared with her and remember her fondly, knowing that she is now at peace.
