WOLCOTTVILLE — Samuel W. Baughn, age 69, of Wolcottville, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at his residence. Mr. Baugh was born on May 6, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Kenneth Donald Baughn and Mildred Anita (Fultz) Baughn. He graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1966 and then continued his education at Colorado State University. On Nov. 24, 1968, he married Sandy Ruth Graue. Sam served his country honorably with the United States Army and then for 12 years served the Air National Guard in Fort Wayne. He worked for Allen Business Machines in Fort Wayne and then went to work for Arbys restaurant, where he traveled to different locations and was a service technician. Sam worked for Sweda International for 15 years and then started his own business named Baughn Business Machines. Next he went on to work for Radiant Systems where he installed gas stations. Upon retirement, Sam worked for Speedway gas station as a maintenance technician. For over 40 years, Sam served various companies as a service technician. Sam was quite a joker and was known for being a kid at heart. He was family oriented and loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. For eight years, he was president of the athletic boosters for Lincoln-Way High School in Frankfort and New Lenox, Illinois. He was a Cub Scout leader, coach for Little League baseball and softball. He enjoyed playing cards, gambling, traveling, his boat and putting model car kits and puzzles together. Survivors include his wife, Sandy Baughn of Wolcottville; three daughters, Kimberly Sue (Sanford) Waltz of Angola, Kathy Ann (John) Bowling of LaGrange and Kelly Ann (Jesse) Reaper of Angola.; a son, Kenneth Walter (Vicki) Baughn of Leesburg, Florida; his grandchildren, Michael Bryant of Wolcottville, Taylor Baugn of LaGrange, Haley Reaper of Pleasant Lake, April Reaper of Pleasant Lake, Kelsie Bowling of LaGrange and Kylie Bowling of LaGrange; a sister, Judith Ann Darling of Blue Ridge, Texas; and three brothers, Thomas R. Baughn of Katy, Texas, Michael D. Baughn of Dessert Palm Springs, California, and Henry J. Baughn of Benson, Arizona. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016, from 4-7 p.m .at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2955 E. C.R. 700S, Wolcottville, Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior starting at 10 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange. Officiating the funeral services will be the Rev. James Tews. Memorial contributions may be directed to Messiah Lutheran Church. Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville is in charge of arrangements.
