Sam C. RostaZANESVILLE: Sam C. Rosta , 89 of Zanesville, formerly of Dayton died 8:55pm Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Oaks at Bethesda.He was born on August 1, 1924 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of Antonio and Antonia Andornetto Rosta.Sam graduated from St. Thomas Catholic High School and The University of Dayton. He was a
WWIIArmy Veteran serving in the South Pacific. He retired in 1986 after 36 years of service as a Procurement Officer for the Department of Defense. Sam was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Dayton, an avid stamp collector and a past president of the Dayton/Kettering Stamp and Coin Club, Knights of Columbus,
Moose Club, St. Vincent DePaul Society and was a Kentucky Colonial. Sam was an aviation buff; he was affiliated with the Moraine Air Park, Aviation Trail and an associate member of the Air Force Museum. He was a member of the Leo Myer Society and the John Stuart Society from the University of Dayton. Sam is survived by a brother, Angelo "Ang" Rosta; two sisters, Mary Rosta and Barbara (Greg) Finan all of Zanesville; nieces and nephews: Terry Rosta, Steve Rosta, Matt (Jana) Rosta, Susan Rosta, Tracey (Benny) Nutter, Greg (Lori) Finan, Julie (Kenny) Gray, Tony Rosta and Tim Rosta; numerous great nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jospeh A. Rosta. Visitation will be 5 to 8pm on Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home 2318 Maple Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Fegan, O.P. as celebrant. Burial with Military Honors will conclude in the Mt Calvary Cemetery.Memorial contributions can be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church, 144 N 5th Street Zanesville or St. Henry Catholic Church 6696 N Springboro Pike Dayton, OH 45449.
