Ruth A. Whipple, 89, of El Paso, TX, entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, the 7th of January, 2017. Ruth was born on June 7, 1927 in Westville, Oklahoma to William and Evoline Sheppard. She was the beloved wife of Ward Whipple for 65 years and mother of Mark S. Whipple (Teresa) of Madison, WI and Karen Clark (David) of Glendale, AZ. Ruth was also the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Michael Clark, Catherine Beckwith (Brandon), Laura Whipple, Rebecca Whipple, Daniel Whipple, and one great granddaughter, Emily Beckwith. During World War II, Ruth worked as a clerk in the shipyards in Oakland, CA and later held a career as a telephone operator in the 1940's and 1950's. However, Ruth's most cherished role was as a devoted military wife of 23 years to her husband Ward and mother to her two children. Ruth was also a longtime volunteer at the Fort Bliss Thrift Shop and member of First Presbyterian Church and choir. To all that had the good fortune to know her, Ruth was a sweet, generous, compassionate woman who demonstrated great love to her family and friends. Ruth lived her life trusting and truly delighting in the Lord, demonstrating Christ in all that she did. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, January 21, 2017at F.D.A.
