Ruth G. DickersonSharptown-Ruth G. Dickerson, formerly of Sharptown, and later of Parsonsburg, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 in Salisbury, Maryland.She was born on July 24, 1926 in Toronto, Ontario, the daughter of the late Edgar Wilfred Skirrow and Elsie Irene Cadmon Mellors Skirrow.Ruth was a longtime active member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Sharptown where she volunteered with numerous ministries in addition to serving as a Sunday school teacher. In her early years, Ruth enjoyed traveling to Florida with her husband and children. She was a talented singer, studied opera, and possessed a great love for music. She was a member of the Cambridge Coin Club and enjoyed cooking and baking in her spare time. She worked for many years at Cope's Candy Company and at Fooks Concrete. Most importantly, she treasured the times spent with her children and their families. She is survived by her children, Allen Neil Dickerson (Linda) of Quantico, and their daughter Danielle Marie Vaughn, Glenn Robert Dickerson (Corrine) of Seaford and their children James Tyler Fleetwood and Mary Catherine Fleetwood, and Holly Jean Trice (Gary) of Parsonsburg and their children Tracy Lynn Lewis, Brad Michael Trice and Heather Lynn Duma; 13 great grandchildren; Noah Trice, Charleigh Melson, James Duma, Chase Fleetwood, Carson Deater, Lily Fleetwood, Candlyn Melson, J.T. Fleetwood, Liam Trice, Landen Trice, Tristine Fleetwood, Cory Lewis, and Brittney Daye. Also surviving, two special sisters-in-law, Dorothy Dickerson of Mardela Springs and Ruth Murray of Salisbury, and several dear nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 610 Main Street, Sharptown, MD. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. The Reverend Terri Bernard will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Firemen's Cemetery in Sharptown.In memory of Mrs. Dickerson, contributions may be sent to Asbury United Methodist Church, PO Box 585, Sharptown, MD 21861.Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
