Ruth A. RowlandRuth A. Rowland, 97, of Remington, Indiana died at 2:42 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at St. Elizabeth East in Lafayette, Indiana.Ruth was born on July 23, 1920 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Gustave Peterman and Arizona Peterman. She lived in a variety of places as a young child, including Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Quantico, Virginia; New York City, New York, Miami, Florida; Kansas City, Missouri; and Springfield, Missouri. She attended and graduated High School in Baltimore, Maryland in 1938. After High School, Ruth enjoyed a variety of activities and careers, which included ballet and tap dancing. She also worked as an air traffic controller, where she met David Rowland.She married David Rowland of Goodland, Indiana on May 19, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas. They had two children Pamela, and David Jr. She and David lived in many places across the United States, related to her Husband's military service in the United State Navy.David and Ruth returned to Indiana and moved to Remington, Indiana in 1959 where the Rowland's owned a farm. She resided in Remington for the next fifty-six years. While living in Remington, Ruth was involved in Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Presbyterian Church of Remington, American Legion Auxiliary, and Order of the Eastern Star.In her spare time she enjoyed ceramics, bridge, golf, swimming, dancing. She continued to enjoy many of these activities until her last weeks of life.Surviving are her children, Pamela Rowland of Lafayette and David (Cathy) Rowland, Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Drew (Nicole) Bloch of Fishers, Indiana; Holly (Ryan) Landers of Lawton, Oklahoma; and Alex Rowland of Kansas City, Missouri and her great-grandchildren, John Landers, of Lawton, Oklahoma.Also surviving is a niece: Evelyn (Herb) Schwamb of Williamsburg, Virginia; and her nephews, Randy (Norma) Rowland of Raleigh, North Carolina; Max (Nila) Rowland, of Naples, Florida; and Mike (Joyce) Rowland of Indianapolis, Indiana.Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Rowland, a grandson, Rowland Bloch, and her brother, Harry (Mildred) Bandel.Graveside funeral services will be held at Remington Cemetery on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.; Rev.
