Russell Sidney Stoughton, age 79, of Hernando, FL, passed away December 5, 2016 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL. Russell was born on November 2, 1937 in South Boston, VA to Russell C. and Ann (Mayo) Stoughton. Russell moved to Citrus County in 1997 from South Jersey. He was a retired Design Engineer, a U.S. Army Veteran, a former member of the New Jersey Club, member of the Knights of Columbus Council #14485, St. Scholastica Catholic Church and he was an Extraordinary Minister of Communion at St. Andrews Catholic Church in New Jersey.Survived by his wife, Diane A Stoughton; one son, Russell J. Stoughton of Ft. Pierce, FL; one daughter, Denise M Taylor (husband Daniel) of Ashburn, VA; three grandchildren, Alexander Taylor, Rachel Taylor and Jonathan Taylor of Ashburn, VA.Family will be receiving friends on Friday December 9th from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 3 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Lecanto, FL. Mass will be offered at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10th at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, FL. Private cremation will follow the Mass. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13th at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.In lieu flowers, family request donations be made to the St. Jude Cancer Research.
