New AlbanySilver, Ruby Lee Troutman,Mrs. RUBY LEE TROUTMAN SILVER, died on Friday June 30, 2017 at the Lincoln Hills Healthcare Center. She was born on October 9, 1917, the middle child and only daughter of Bennie and Huldah Kimball Troutman. She was born nearly 100 years ago. She was the Salutatorian and graduated from Shepherdsville High School in 1934, and began working at Belknap. She worked for the New Albany School Corporation for 26 years at Hazelwood Jr. High and then at Student Services. She loved working with people of all ages. She and her husband, Ed, traveled all over the U.S.A. She and her children and grandchildren traveled to many states as well. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. She enjoyed music in the church choir at the First Baptist Church of New Albany where she was the oldest member. She served as the secretary of the Southern Indiana Orchestra. She taught Sunday School for years and was active in Missionary Groups, the Homemakers Club and the Whozits Club. Deceased are her parents, husband, Ed, son Ed Silver III, an infant son, and four brothers: Kenneth, Roy, Vernon and Everett Troutman. She is survived by a daughter: Mary Lee Legan(Bill), son: Art Silver(Linda), son: John Silver(Angie), daughter-in-law: Linda, sisters-in-law: Ruth and Patsy Troutman, with 11 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. A funeral service celebrating Ruby's life will be held at 10 AM Monday July 3, 2017 at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville(1119 E. Market St.) with burial in Hebron Cemetery in Brooks, KY. Visitation will be from 1 - 8 PM Sunday. Memorial Contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church.
