Leo Higgins of Staunton, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Birch Gardens.Mrs. Higgins was born on December 7, 1927 in Rockbridge County to the late Franklin and Sallie (Hickman) Leighton.She retired from Western State Hospital after 17 years as a cafeteria worker.She was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church where she was also involved in the Morning Circle.Ruby is survived by three daughters: Dawn Jordan of Staunton, Wanda Higgins Edwards (Denny) of Waynesboro, and Bonnie Higgins Rudd of Stuarts Draft; three brothers, Richard Leighton (Betty) of Colonial Heights, Phillip Leighton (Pat) of Natural Bridge, and Robin Leighton of Lynchburg; six grandchildren, Stephanie Swartz (Kent), Stephen Jordan, Todd Jordan (Laura), Nathan Edwards (Lauren), Dustin Burnett (Nicole), Spencer Burnett (Kelli); four great-grandchildren, Kyle Swartz, Jaxon Burnett, Alison Jordan, and Leo Edwards.In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, William K. Leighton.A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Third Presbyterian Church by Pastor Jacob Singleton.Family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in Henry Funeral Home.Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren.Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Birch Gardens.The family wants to express their deep appreciation for the love and support from the staff of Birch Gardens.Memorial donations may be made to Third Presbyterian Church, 1313 Barterbrook Road, Staunton, VA, 24401.Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.henryfuneralhome.net.
