a resident of Bradenton, FL, and Alexandria, VA, passed away on February 17, 2017, in Aldie, VA. Roy was born on November 20, 1929, in Hayward, California, where he was raised. During World War II, Roy relocated with other Japanese-Americans to the internment camp at Topaz, Utah. He volunteered to serve his nation in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, participating in missions aboard the B-29 and B-52, among many others. After a brief career with Trans World Airlines, Roy renewed his service to the nation working as a civilian executive in the U.S. Navy. His naval service was highlighted by his assignment to Naval Air Station Almeda, in California, where Roy served in support of the world's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise. Roy was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Roy was predeceased by his wife, Teresa, who passed away in 2010. He is survived by his sister, Lily, of California; brother Nob, of California; brother Tak, of Arizona; daughters Kathy, Gay and Susan of California; daughter Dorice, of Missouri; daughter Susan, of Georgia; sons Dennis and Duane, of California; and son Douglas, of Virginia.
