Roxie BauerRoxie Bauer, age 67 of Rock Rapids, IA died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at her home in Rock Rapids. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 7th at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, IA, with Rev. Mark Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Thursday, July 6th from 4:00 to 8:00PM with family present from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. Roxie Ann Hein Bauer was born on November 14, 1949 in Huron, SD, the daughter of Lester and Clara (Grundmann) Hein. At the age of three the family moved to Lyon County, IA, in the Lester area. Her elementary years were at Lester school and senior years at West Lyon. On September 21, 1968, she married her life partner, Jerry Bauer of Rock Rapids, IA. To this union three sons were born: Brian Lynn, Bradley Ray and Jason Robert. In 1988 they moved to Boone, IA. Roxie worked in the school lunch program and in-home health care. She also worked at Iowa State University for five years in the Lab Department. In 2006, they moved to Owatonna, MN. Roxie worked several jobs in Owatonna, but many weekends were spent at the lake in Waterville, MN with their camper. Upon retirement in 2015, they decided to return to Rock Rapids. Due to failing health they later sold their camper. Roxie is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Jerry Bauer of Rock Rapids, IA; three sons: Brian Bauer of Sacramento, CA, Brad (Vickie) Bauer of Larchwood, IA and Jason (Lisa) Bauer of Davenport, IA; five grandchildren: Anthony, Lindsey, Abbie Jo, Tanner and Brennan; two great-grandchildren: Addison and Ivy; brother, Bob (Karren) Hein of Beloit, WI; sister, Judy (Ron) Kahl of Janesville, WI; two brothers-in-law: Ted (Barb) Hoogendoorn of Rock Rapids, IA and Doug Bauer of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Judy (Lee) Hollander of Omaha, NE; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. She was preceded in death by both her parents; sister, Connie Hoogendoorn; and a sister-in-law, Ardell Bauer.
