A wonderful life lived

With love in our hearts and cherished memories to hold onto, we share the passing of Rose Lee Covington, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Born on April 13, 1953, in Duck Hill, Mississippi, to L.C. and Susan Covington, Rose’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, kindness, resilience, and warmth.

In 1961, at the age of eight, Rose and her family moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she embraced a new life filled with growth and opportunity. She attended Douglas Elementary School, graduating in 1966, and went on to complete her education at Wendell Phillips High School in 1970. Shortly after, Rose began her first job at Sears Roebuck Company, delighting others as a gift wrapper during the holiday season. Her joyful spirit brought warmth to those around her, whether wrapping presents or simply sharing a smile. She also took pride in working as a teacher’s aide.

Rose’s greatest pride and joy were her two children, Terra Latrice Clay and Larry Larnell Covington. She poured her heart into being a loving and supportive mother, instilling love, laughter, and strength in her children. She adored her grandchildren, Imani and T.J., who were the light of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to show how much she cared for them. They will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Rose’s kindness knew no bounds, and she had a way of making everyone feel special. As of November 13, 2024, she rests in heavenly peace. She is reunited with loved ones who have gone before her: her parents, L.C. and Susan Covington; her brother, Lincoln Charles Covington; her sister, Barbara Ann Covington; and her grandparents, CandyBell and Marion Covington.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and treasured memories through her family: her daughter and son-in-law, Terra and Olivio Clay; her son, Larry Covington; her precious grandchildren, Imani and T.J.; her brothers, Willie, Henry, and Alan; her sisters, Mary and Lynnette; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.

The Covington family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, love, and support during this difficult time.
