DES PLAINES, IL - Rose Laketa (nee: Sanfilippo), 83, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012. She was born on November 5, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois to John B. and Rosalina (nee Baratta) Sanfilippo. She married George Laketa on February 27, 1954 and together they raised three children. Rose graduated from Mundelein College with a business degree and worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service in Union Grove for many years. After George passed away, she worked in payroll for John B. Sanfilippo and Sons. Rose loved to bowl and was very active in her league at River Grove Bowling Alley in Des Plaines, IL. She was an avid cross-word puzzler and competitive Skip-Bo player with her sister, Anne. Rose was a prayer warrior and attended church at St. Robert's Parish in Union Grove. She was extremely close with her family and will be deeply missed by all. Rose is survived by her loving children, Rita Zadurski and Rosalie Laketa, her grandchildren, Terrie Anne ( Joshua) Self, Genelle Marie Banks, Matthew (Margaret) Laketa, Angela Laketa, Sarah Kuehl, and Scott Kuehl, and her great-grandchildren, Samuel J. Banks, Salena Laketa, and Sydney Laketa. She is further survived by her siblings, Anne Karacic, Mary (Mathias) Valentine, and Jasper (Marion) Sanfilippo, her sister-in-law, Vera Walter, her brother-in-law, Thomas Karacic, her uncle, Roland Baratta, her aunt, Jean Tessman, and many nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, and her son, Samuel George Laketa. Visitation will take place at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home on Thursday, June 21, 2012, from 3 until 8 p.m. Additional visitation time will be held at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 10 until 11 a.m. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery in Libertyville, IL.
