Rosalyn F. Davis passed peacefully at home on October 31, 2016. Rosalyn was born on August 21, 1922 in Franklin, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Gladys Theuret Fisher and Charles H. Fisher. Rosalyn graduated with an RN from Allegany General Hospital School of Nursing and spent one year nursing in her hometown hospital before joining the United States Army as an Army Nurse as 2nd Lieutenant. While stationed at Ft. Mead, Maryland, she met her future husband, Gerald Davis, Jr. They married in Richmond, VA in 1944. After their service in the Army, they moved to Corning, NY where they have since lived. Rosalyn worked as an RN in Corning Hospital. Later she began Homemakers Services. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society serving as ACS Service Committee chairman in 1967 and 1968, and ultimately being named Volunteer of the Year. She was also a founding member of Corning Lioness Club. Rosalyn was a member of Corning Business and Professional Women's Club serving as BPW chairperson in 1979. She was a faithful member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Gibson for many years. Aside from her many accomplishments, Rosalyn will be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness and for her devotion to her husband, children, family, and friends. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Gerald Davis, her daughters Dee (David) Mosher of Elmira, NY, Debbie (Ernie) Wein of Niskayuna, NY, and her son Jeffrey (Marianne) Davis of Ootlewah, TN, seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends. The family wants to thank so many friends and family members who offered help, support, and care for Rosalyn, also her caregiver Michelle Simmons, special friend Rhonda Yokum, Pastor Becker and CareFirst for their resources and support. Rosalyn's ineffable sweetness will live long after her and she will be dearly missed. Calling Hours will be held at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY on Saturday November 5, 2016 from 12:30pm - 2:00pm, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm officiated by Pastor Jeffrey Becker.
