What was once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. May god be with you. Descanse em paz.
Ronald Douglas , 73, of Georgetown, Demerara-Mahaica passed on July 16, 2023 after his courageous battle with lung cancer. A man taken too soon, Ronald was born on January 01, 1950. He was a loving son born to Kendrick and Helen Douglas, caring father to one beautiful daughter and an amazing grandfather to three. He always found the joy in the things others couldn’t, served as a father figure those without and a pillar of the village not to include the fact that there was no one who could make a better puri than him so he was loved all around! A man whose life was deeply imbedded in his faith, literature, honesty and integrity. As I look back at it now the best memories that come to mind first when thinking of him include listening to his life stories as my cousins and I were in the kitchen helping him cook. Finally to share with you some verses of the last poem he left us with, from his favorite author Maya Angelou
And every goodbye ain’t gone.
I’m the same person I was back then,
A little less hair,
a little less chin,
A lot less lungs and much less wind.
But ain’t I lucky I can still breathe in
You can to the family or in memory of Ronald Douglas .
