Rock Selvig died January 24, 2012 in his home in Juneau, Alaska. He was born on February 18th, 1964, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish, S.D. At 6 months old, sleeping in a Chiquita Banana box, he traveled the Alaska Highway with his parents when they moved to Juneau... and he never left.Growing up, Rocky had a curious heart and clever imagination that kept himself and his friends entertained; Building rafts and forts, shooting his handmade tennis-ball-launcher, and swimming or sledding with monster innertubes… whatever the season may be. He was a State Champion Wrestler at JDHS and graduated in 1982. Shortly after high school, he entered the IBEW Electrical Apprenticeship Program and became a Journeyman Wireman. He was well respected in his trade.Throughout his adult life, Rocky earned titles in arm wrestling, power lifting, and bodybuilding; he achieved the title of Mr. Juneau for three years between 1987 - 1991 and runner up for Mr. Alaska. In 1992, he was blessed with a daughter, Megan Elizabeth Rose Eagle, and he finally felt complete. Rocky loved canoeing, photography, woodworking, and he typically maintained multiple projects as an outlet for his artistic talents and mechanical abilities. He was known for his sense of humor and generous nature. He always had his dog at his side, a great joke to tell, and a warm laugh. Rock had many long-time friends and close companions who, along with his family, will miss him greatly. He also loved the classic Winnie the Pooh..."Promise me you'll always remember...; you're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." -Christopher Robin to PoohHe was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father Rodney P.
