Robert William Binkowski of Oscoda passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Saginaw St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw, age 67 years. Robert was born on June 6, 1944 in Rochester to Frank and Stella (nee Kolakowski) Binkowski. He attended Rochester Hills High School and then enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served our country from 1965 to 1966, stationed mostly in Germany. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Robert began his long career as a builder. After many years working in the building and construction business, Robert retired in 2003. He was an active member of the Oscoda American Legion and he truly loved bowling and playing pool with his friends. Robert is survived by his two sons, Rick (Missy) Binkowski of Oscoda and Jim Binkowski of Midland; four grandchildren, Alyssa Binkowski of Grand Rapids and Brandon, Mathew, and Nicholas Binkowski of Mt. Clemens; two step grandchildren, Courtney DeOrnellas of Ferndale and Joshua DeOrnellas of Oscoda; three sisters, Pat Binkowski, Lorraine (Sam) Oswald and Janette Walker; three brothers, Richard Binkowski, Don Binkowski and Larry (Linda) Binkowski; and several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Harold and Bruno Binkowski. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service with military honors is scheduled for Saturday June 2 at 11 a.m. at the Oscoda American Legion.
