Robert "Bob" Shaltry of Tawas City passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at his home. Robert was born on Aug. 8, 1928, in Saginaw to Joseph and Josephine (nee Suprenant) Shaltry. He married Dorothy Gielczyk in 1958 and together they celebrated 52 beautiful years of marriage.He worked at Michigan Bell Telephone Company (Ameritech) for 25 years, retiring in 1973, then he and Dorothy moved to George Lake in Lupton. Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the American Legion Post No. 422 in Hale. Robert and Dorothy moved to Tawas City in 1994. He was a parishioner at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; brother-in-law, Clarion Gielczyk of Saginaw; sisters-in-law, Helene Shaltry of Richland, Wash., Jordis Shaltry of Boise, Idaho, and Billie Shaltry of Springfield, Ohio; and many, many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters. Visitation for Robert was held on Sunday at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City with the Rosary prayed that evening. A funeral Mass was held on Monday, Feb. 7, at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Charles Donajkowski officiating. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Saginaw.
