Robert Rainey Sr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, has bid us farewell with one final grand exit. Born on January 24, 1957, he embarked on a lifelong journey filled with laughter, love, and the occasional eyebrow-raising adventure. Today, on September 19, 2023, we find ourselves mourning his loss, yet celebrating the remarkable life he lived in his humble abode in St. George, Utah. Together once again he will be reunited with his soulmate Catherine; who sadly passed a week prior. Some would say his heart just couldn’t handle being away from his partner in crime.
Robert, or "Big Bob" as he was affectionately known by those lucky enough to cross his path, was the son of Richard Rainey and Elizabeth Grunes. From the moment he entered this world, his mischievous smile and zest for life were evident to anyone with the good fortune of meeting the young man destined for greatness.
In 1974, Robert embarked on his own lifelong adventure when he joined hands in matrimony with the love of his life, Catherine Rainey. Little did Catherine know that she was in for an existence brimming with unexpected escapades, questionable culinary experiments, and more dad jokes than the world could handle.
Raising two children, Matthew Rainey and Robert Rainey Jr., proved to be Robert's most exhilarating endeavor. A father like no other, he combined the perfect balance of wisdom, wit, and borderline embarrassing public displays of affection. To his children, he was both superhero and slightly embarrassing sidekick, reminding them that life was a wild ride to be embraced.
In due time, Robert received the ultimate honor of becoming a grandfather to eight adorable grandchildren, each a testament to his legacy. Though we shall not mention their names here, let it be known that his grandchildren have inherited his unmistakable charm, quick wit, and uncanny knack for mischief.
However, it was Heart Failure that dared to challenge Robert's inimitable spirit, eventually leading him toward the undeniable embrace of the great beyond. But fear not, for we are certain that Heaven is now abuzz with laughter, epic storytelling, and the comforting aroma of his unforgettable burnt bacon.
Join us, on this somber yet uproarious occasion, as we bid farewell to an extraordinary man. Robert Rainey Sr., you shall be dearly missed, forever engraved in our hearts, and remembered for causing more belly laughs than we could count. Rest in peace, dear friend. Until we meet again.
