He was born on January 7, 1948 in Worcester, Massachusetts, son of the late Robert F. Johnston Sr. and Evelyn M. Johnston. Bob loved living in San Jose for the past 33 years. Prior to that he resided in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Bob is survived by his wife Debra (Dee) Johnston, daughter Morgan Sierra and her husband Raymond of Las Vegas Nevada, and daughter Jillian Johnston of San Jose. He has one granddaughter, who meant the world to him, Kadence Sierra. Bob was the oldest of four children. He leaves behind his brother Richard (Dick), sister Patricia (Pat) Corley and her husband Hal, and brother David and his wife Sarah. Bob was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He was a child at heart who loved and was loved by the so many who crossed his path during his lifetime. Though a frugal soul, his generosity knew no bounds when it came to helping or caring for those close to him. His radiance, positivity and love for life will be deeply missed. Words cannot express the impact that he made on so many people. Bob retired earlier in 2016 after 17 years with Oracle Corp. Prior to that he worked for AT Kearney for 6 years and Digital Equipment Corp (DEC) for 26 years. Bob was an avid amateur photographer, grill master, and researcher of the best deal to be had on anything. Please join Bob's family and friends for a memorial service on Saturday, November 19 at Willow Glen Funeral Home 1039 Lincoln Ave. San Jose from 10AM to 12PM. That service will be followed by a celebration of life lunch.
