Ganiere, Robert J. "Bob" MONONA/CAMBRIDGE-Robert J. Ganiere, age 96, of Monona, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Home Again Assisted Living in Cambridge. He was born on Nov. 22, 1920, in Milwaukee, the son of Albinus R. Ganiere and Martha (Nero) and Bonus Mom, Alice. Bob graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in the Southwest Pacific from Sept. 18, 1942 until Nov. 16, 1945, as a Sergeant in the 339th Engineer Regiment and 442nd Battalion. Bob married Doris E. Hesse on June 1, 1946, at Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He worked for 40 years at AT&T, Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company, as a linesman retiring as an engineer. Bob sang in Barbershop Chorus, Baritone in Four Clips quartet. He was very active in his church serving on many committees and was past president of the congregation. Bob was a hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping, skiing, golfing and wood carving. He is survived by his loving wife Doris of 71 years; daughters, Linda (Dick Horton) Schedel, Laura (Kim Wiarda) Bond, Karen (Robert) Pertzborn, Karla (Phil) Peck and Julie (John) Gengler; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; infant son; and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at MONONA EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4411 Monona Dr., Monona, on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at 11 AM, with Pastor Thomas Nowak presiding. Burial followed at Roselawn Memorial Park with military rites. Visitation were at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
