Ricky Lewis Haydon passed quietly from this world on May 19, 2017. Rick was born on February 21, 1954 in Gary, Indiana to James and Evelyn (Decker) Haydon. Rick grew up in Gary, Indiana and then Colorado Springs, Colorado after the passing of his mother in 1966. Rick attended Air Academy High School, Colorado Springs, Colorado on the Air Force Academy grounds. He was a member of the Class of 1973. Rick left high school and joined the US
Army in 1973. Rick spent 13 years in the Army as a Military Policemen during the Cold War years serving in West Germany for 7 years. Rick went on the work for the DOD Police at Buckley ANG Base and US INS in Denver, Colorado and US INS in Detroit, Michigan. After moving to the Durango, Colorado area he worked for Home Depot, the US Bureau of Reclamation on monitoring the dam that created Lake Nighthorse, and for the last 7 years in Security at Sunray Park and Casino, Farmington, New Mexico. Ricky met his future wife, Elizabeth McKeever, in high school and married her at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado on August 17, 1973. They went on to have 2 children, James Haydon of Aurora, Colorado and Brandi (Haydon) Harrison of Bloomfield, New Mexico. Besides his wife and children Rick is survived by 1 sister Debra (Mason) Rose (and Bryan) and 3 brothers Earnest Mason (and Marian) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, James Tracy (and Nancy) of Florida, and Stanley Tracy of Michigan. His parents James Haydon and Evelyn (Decker) Mason Haydon predeceased him in 1959 and 1966. He has one grandson in Colorado and 3 step grandchildren in New Mexico as well as nieces and nephews in Indiana, Colorado, Georgia and Texas. Rick was an animal lover and a proud veteran. Donations to your local animal shelter or to the () group would be appreciated. Rick was cremated and his remains will be interred at Eads Cemetery in Eads, Colorado sometime in the future.
