Ricky D. Rick Campbell1956 - 2014Ricky D. Rick Campbell, 57, of Paris Township, died on Monday, March 3, 2014, at United Hospital System St. Catherines Campus.He was born on July 5, 1956, in Dayton, Ohio, and was the son of Charles Ray and Peggy Jo (Campbell) Wilson. For eight years, he honorably served in the
U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer Second Class Supply Clerk. He was honorably discharged in 1981.After his military service, Rick moved to Kenosha County. He attended Gateway Technical College and received his Associates Degree in Accounting. On April 24, 1982, he was united in marriage to Lea Rosann Schmeckel at her parents residence in Paris, Wis.At the time of his death, Rick was employed as a terminal manager for the Waukegan Hub of Gypsum Express. He previously was employed as a civilian with Great Lakes Naval Base in the Comptrollers Office, and then Acco Brands in Lincolnshire, Ill., in the accounting department.Rick coached grade school, summer and CYC basketball for almost 30 years. Many students looked up to Rick for his coaching abilities at St. Johns, Paris Consolidated, Brighton and St. Alphonsus schools. He had a passion for umpiring. Rick loved having fun on the field and making others laugh. He was an umpire, manager, board member and coach for the boys baseball and girls softball teams for Lakeland Little League.Rick was an avid music buff and sung karaoke. He liked playing Euchre, watching sports, and listening to Sports Talk Radio. Above all, he received his biggest joy from spending time and playing with his beautiful grandchildren.He is survived by his wife, Lea; his mother, Peggy Jo Campbell; his six children, Rose Bohannon of Houston, Tex., Ricky D. Campbell, Jr., of Houston, Tex., Peggy (Hugo) Davalos of Ocean Side, Calif., Garrett (Emily) Campbell of Salem, Kristin (Brian Pickle) Campbell of Minneapolis, Minn., and Alysia Campbell of Union Grove; and seven grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Ray Wilson; and his maternal grandparents, Garrett and Myrtle Campbell.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014, at 7 p.m., at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Full military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. A visitation for Rick will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
