Richard Stephen (Steve) Talbott, age 70, a resident of Bullhead City, Ariz. passed away on Friday, December 09, 2016 at his home in following a brief illness. Steve was born on September 23, 1946 in Seattle Wash. where he spent his childhood. When he was in his early teens, his family moved to Garden Grove, Calif. where he attended and graduated from Garden Grove High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in The United States Navy and served from 1965 to 1969 as an aircraft trouble shooter, attached to VF 194 aboard the USS Oriskany and the USS Ticonderoga. Steve retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers Local 640 as a Journeyman Electrician. He was a very gifted person and spent much of his retirement in his garage workshop rebuilding and repairing engines and fabricating parts on his lathe. He was always there for his friends to help them with repairs of their cars, trucks, boats and motorcycles. He was a talented seamstress and upholstered boats, cars and furniture for family and friends. He loved helping others. Steve was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 10005, the American Legion Post 87 and the United Veterans Honor Guard. He enjoyed the comradery of his fellow veterans. His favorite activity was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle to which he had added a side car. When the weather was accommodating he ran errands and went on rides with his friends. With his 6' 8'' height he was easily recognized putting around town. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Ruth Laycock; and his father, Richard Owen Talbott; and step-son, John Robert Day. Steve is survived by his wife, Joan of Bullhead City; niece, Victoria Drake of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Mark (Claudia) Talbott of Woodinville, Wash.; sister, Karen Gilbert of Anaheim, Calif.; niece, Kirstin Lowry Swans of Anaheim, Calif.; nephews, Mark Owen Talbott Jr. of Lafayette, La. and Shad David Talbott of Woodinville, Wash. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Desert Lawn Cemetery, 9250 S. Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, with the United Veterans Honor Guard conducting military honors.
