KINGSTON — Richard "Dick" Steinhauer, 82, of Kingston, and a "snowbird" of Tavares, Fla., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Geisinger CMC Hospital.

He was born on June 14, 1934, in Kingston, the son of the late Ernest and Miriam (Hartz) Steinhauer. He was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1952; a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1957, serving in the admiral's staff on carriers. He attended two years at Wilkes College and also Travelers Insurance School in Hartford, Conn., eventually spending 42 years at Galland, Steinhauer and Repa, Inc.

Dick, in his early years, was a volunteer at the Kingston Fire Department, both fighting fires and helping with the ambulance. He was also a member of Kingston Masonic Lodge No. 395, F & AM; Irem Shrine; local, state and national Independent Insurance Agents Association and Steinhauer Real Estate. He was also a past member of Grace Episcopal Church, Kingston; attendee of both Epiphany Leesburg Angelican Church, Fla.; Rock Church, Scranton.

Surviving are his wife, Carol, who together celebrated their 59th anniversary on Nov. 9, 2016; children, Debbie Stark and husband, Christopher, of Clarks Summit, Scott Steinhauer and wife, Sarah, of Princeton, N.J.; sister, Joann; granddaughters, Abby LeClair and husband, Pierre, of State College, Sarah, of Springbrook.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with Pastor Christopher Stark officiating. The interment will be private at Oaklawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call 9 a.m. until service time Saturday.
