Richard SmedleyChambersburgRichard David Smedley, 94, passed away December 10, 2016 at Chambersburg Hospital. He was born on July 26, 1922 in Waynesboro to the late Richard and Ida (Talhelm) Smedley. He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot where he had been a Storage Specialist. Richard was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Central United Presbyterian Church where he had served as Deacon. He enjoyed athletics including softball, bowling and watching the Redskins, Twins and Wizards. Richard is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Eleanor Grace Yingling; and their two children, Randall Richard Smedley of Harrisburg and Sharon Kay Smedley McFadden of Lancaster. He has one grandson, Peter Smedley McFadden of Lancaster.Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg, with the Rev. Scott Bowerman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
