Richard L. PetersGrove City: Richard L. Peters, 85, of Grove City, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017. He was born on September 6, 1931 in Council Bluffs, IA to the late Donald and Gladys (Lehman) Peters. Rich was a proud
U.S. Navy veteran who served during the
Korean War. He worked for many years at Holophane, Dayton Precision, and B+L Transport. Rich later retired from Marathon Oil with over 20 years of service. He enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states, and Canada and Mexico. Rich was a sports fanatic and an avid bowler and golfer. He was a past member of Grove City American Legion Post 164. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Sarah Peters; brother, Roland Peters; and sister, Shirley Simmons. Rich is survived by his loving daughters, Vicki (Mike) McVay of Grove City, and Stacy York of Canal Winchester; grandchildren, Mindy (Joe) Wakefield, Michael (Misty) McVay, Jr., Matthew (Stephanie) McVay, Sean (Rose) Merz, Sarah McVay, Dakota Merz, Jillian York; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH, on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor David Long-Higgins officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lancaster, OH.
