Richard M. WhiteAsheville - Richard Milton White, Sr., 88, of Asheville, passed away January 31, 2017. Richard was born on April 8, 1928 in Asheville, NC to the late Corless Edison White, Sr. and Lillian Gertrude Hughes White. In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Ferguson White, who passed away February 1, 2016, as well as his brothers, Corless Edison White, Jr. and William White. Richard attended Western Carolina University on an athletic scholarship, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. He returned to WCU to further his education and achieved his Master's Degree. He then went on to a long-time career at Asheville-Buncombe Technical College, where he served as Director of Business Administration. He was a member of West Asheville Presbyterian Church. Richard enjoyed sports, hunting, golf, and had a great love for dogs, especially his beloved Herman. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, which, as it turns out, was hereditary. Richard is survived by his loving family, including his children, Richard White, Jr., David White, Sr. (Kristie) and Donna Davis (Greg); grandchildren, Drew White (Marielos) of Mobile, AL, David White, Jr. of Asheville, Jesse White of Raleigh, Anna White of Clemson, SC, and Melissa White, of Chapel Hill; and great granddaughter, Camila White of Mobile, AL. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue.
