Richard Janicki - Cochon (Papa/ Tonton/Parrain/Riri/ KaKar), 51, passed unexpectedly on May 28th, 2022 in Neo Chorio, Chania Greece from a brain bleed in his home following a motor vehicle accident.
Richard was born December 18th 1970 in Lens, France. Richard graduated from the International Hotel School, Michel Servet in Lille. Married to Amanda Janicki- Cochon (Daamen) on July 27th, 2017 in Kalyves, Chania, Greece at Mistrali's. Richard spent the last 27 years working at sea and the last 22 years exclusively with Norwegian Cruise Line, most recently as Regional Vice President Fleet Operations, an achievement he and his family took great pride in. Richard lived a beautiful life between Chania, Greece and New Brunswick, Canada when he was not at sea.
In addition to his love of invaluable family time Richard's hobbies included boating, snooker, opera(Pavarotti), football(soccer), chess as well as a passion for cooking passed down from his mother Cecile. Richard was one of the anchors of his family, always hosting a family meal, or celebration. He was passionate and had unparalleled love for his family and friends. He could always start a great conversation or make a new friend. Richard knew how to tell a story like no other and had so many great stories that will live on through everyone he loved. As his family reminisced he was typically enthusiastically yelling or laughing, never holding any commentary back.
Richard was pre deceased by his grandfather Joseph Juskowiak, his grandmother Francoise Juskowiak (Kups). Survived by his loving wife Amanda Janicki- Cochon (Daamen), adoring daughters Charlotte Janicki- Cochon (5) and Elise Janicki- Cochon (2), mother Cecile Cochon (Juskowiak), father Daniel Cochon, sister Sylvie Wojciechowski (Janicki- Cochyn), brother in law Frederic Wojciechowski, twin brother Laurent Janicki- Cochyn, nephew Julien Wojciechowski, niece Mathilde Wojciechowski and god daughter Camille Janicki-Cochyn, as well his many In laws and friends that were family from around the world.
Richard's funeral service will be held at 11:30 on June 7th, 2022 at the Church of Neo Chorio in Chania, Greece. Richard's wishes were to be spread at sea in Kalyves, his favourite spot in his well travelled word, we will honour his wishes at a later date.
