She was with her family until the end."Becca" was born on April 3, 1961, in San Francisco, Calif. She completed her childhood and high school years in the city, and attended the
University of Georgia, where she met Kit Howard, and the Medical College of Georgia. Upon completion of her training in occupational therapy, she was a valued employee of Shepherd Spinal Center. Following completion of her duties as "mom," she took a second career in medical sonography and worked at the Northeast Georgia Diagnostic Clinic. Her greatest joy was caring for others, and she was a kind and compassionate caregiver, even spending her finals days ensuring her close friends and family would be cared for. She married Kit Howard, M.D., and they were blessed with two wonderful children, Ashley Howard Nickell and Christopher Gerald Howard. They were blessed with wonderful spouses, Peter Nickell and Lauren Howard, and we were given another son and daughter to love.Becca loved to read, to sew, to travel and to love her family. She loved to laugh with, share a meal with and play tennis with her friends. She wanted her children to be happy and healthy, and she provided both. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. Her lasting legacy is her kind, gentle nature exemplified by her work with patients who were sick and frightened only to be reassured by her spirit of caring.
