Raymond Thomas Marzarella, Sr.AGE: 85 • LakewoodRaymond Thomas Marzarella, Sr. age 85, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28th 2016 with his family by his side. Ray was born on November 16, 1931 in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Samuel J. and Margaret Marzarella and was raised in Newark and East Orange. Upon completing service to his country as an Army combat veteran of the
Korean War, Ray became a respected builder and business owner in the Ocean and Monmouth County areas for over 50 years. He was co-owner of Charlie Fives nightclub in Spring Lake with his brother Anthony and co-owner of the Speakeasy Lounge in Lakewood. He was also co-founder of All County Enterprises and enjoyed a long career developing this successful business with his family.He was a long time member of the Shore Builders Association and was especially proud of his induction into its Hall Of Fame in 1992.In his later years he enjoyed spending time in Florida, working on "The Farm," and spoiling his grandchildren.Brother of the late Vincent, Lewis, Louise, and Anthony Marzarella and great grandfather of the late Natalie Rae Marzarella, Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carole, four sons, Samuel J. of Belmar, Raymond Jr. and his wife Dawn of Lakewood, Vincent and his wife Barbara of Toms River, and Gerald of Brick; a sister Rita Pezza and her husband Leonard of Brick; five grandchildren, Kristin, Raymond, Matthew, Alexandra, Samantha, and a step-granddaughter, Brittany Engesser, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4th 2017 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Ave. Lakewood NJ 08701.A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday January 5th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 43 Madison Ave, Lakewood NJ 08701.Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to POAC (Parents of Autistic Children), 1989 Route 88 Brick NJ 08724 or by visiting
