Raymond E. MortimerFREDERICKTOWN: Raymond "Mort" Mortimer, age 87, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 8, 1929 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of George Edgar and Alice Marie (Epler) Mortimer Sr. Raymond was owner and operator of Mort's Mobil in Fredericktown for over 28 years.One of Raymond's hobbies was coon hunting and in 1989 this passion became a job as he opened Knotty Oak Kennels and Taxidermy at his home. Raymond was one of Knox counties most experienced coon hunter and trainer of top grade coon hounds. He was a member of the NRA and the Knox County Coon Hunter's Association. Raymond was a carefree man that always created a laugh in the room or put a smile on your face. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (McAbier) Mortimer, whom he married on November 25, 1978; his children, Rebecca (Dennis) Creamer of Mansfield, Connie Lee of Lakeland, Florida, Stanley (Maggie) Mortimer of Mount Vernon, Susie (Jim) Braddock of Fredericktown; step daughter, Shelley Kondas of Texas; step son, Kevin (Julie) Cox of Mount Vernon; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a great great grandson; a brother, Arthur Mortimer of Portland, Oregon; a sister, Janet Sue (Eugene) Kreinbrink of Lexington and several nieces and nephews.Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers; George Mortimer Jr., Bernard Mortimer and a sister, Dorothy Kershner.Friends may call on Sunday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown with a funeral service to begin at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in North Fork Cemetery near Waterford.
