RACINE - Raymond E. 'Ray' Fliess, 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Froedtert Memorial Hospital, Wauwatosa, as a result of injuries sustained in a bicycle/automobile accident. Ray was born on July 18, 1923, to Lawrence and Hermine (nee: Brand) Fliess on a New Mexico Territory homestead near Mills, New Mexico. Ray was raised in Kenosha County and attended Kellogg's Corner School. Ray farmed for many years. He was employed as a Tool and Die Maker at AMC/Chrysler, retiring in 1987. On June 26, 1948, Ray married Eldora 'Elly' Laska. They were married for 58 years. Elly passed away on April 4, 2006. Ray and his family were active members of St. John the Baptist Parish for many years. On November 24, 2007, Ray married Nancy Albright. They shared four wonderful years together. Ray and Nancy are members of St. Paul the Apostle Church of Racine. Ray was also an active member of Knights of Columbus Council #697, Racine. Ray was an inspiration to his family. He enjoyed life and remained active - walking, dancing, and riding his bike, until his death. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Albright- Fliess; his son, John (Kathy) Fliess; his daughters, Regina (Michael) Galley, Wanda (David) Hartz, Therese (Brad) Molgaard, and Margie (Charlie) Brandes; his six step-sons, Steven (Paula), Gary, David (Megan), Patrick (Christine), Ted (Nancy), and Dan (June) Albright; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchil- dren; and nine step- grandchildren. In addition, Ray is survived by his four brothers, Joseph (Jean), Clarence, Norbert (Laydene), and Albert (Sally) Fliess; and his two sisters, Marie Tabbert and Trudy (Marlin) Biehn. Ray was preceded in death by three infant children; his parents; and four brothers, Alois, Lawrence, Bertram (Fr. Conrad), and Leo Fliess. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, Racine. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Highway 142 and County D, Kenosha County. A visitation for Ray will be held on Monday, October 17, 2011, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home and on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
