Rayburn, formerly of Merkel, TX, for many years, was born on June 4, 1925, in Lubbock, TX. Staff Sergeant Pruitt served his country well during WWII. He fought in the Philippines and was awarded the Purple Heart. Rayburn is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lois Pruitt; son, Ray Pruitt of Corsicana; and daughter, Emily Carrington of Rockwall. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Carter. He leaves behind seven grandkids and eleven great-grandkids.Visitation will be at Starbuck Funeral Home, 201 Edwards, Merkel, Texas from 3:00PM to 5:00PM Sunday, September 24, 2017. Graveside services with military honors will be at 10:00AM Monday, September 25, 2017, at Texas State Veteran's Cemetery, 7457 W. Lake Road, Abilene, Texas.
