Ramon "Ray" Ortega at age 79, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in Yuma, AZ. He was born on January 12, 1933 in Yuma, AZ. Ray attended University of Arizona and is a graduate of the Military Police School. He was in the Army National Guard Military Academy and Officers Training School Achieving the Rank of Captain. He was a former Yuma Military Police Company commander, BF Goodrich and owner of the Ortega Tire Company. He was a life member of the Eagles, American Legion 4th degree navigator in the Knights of Columbus, past LT Governor, President of Sunrise Optimist, and District Commissioner with Boy Scouts of America, Saint Vincent de Paul Society, past President of the Babe Ruth League. Ray is survived by his spouse Bertha Ortega of Yuma, AZ; sons, Arthur Ortega of Indianapolis, IN; Ralph Leon Ortega of Houston, TX; Jon Ortega of Woodbridge, VA; daughter, Karen Ortega of Tampa, FL; brothers, Edward Ortega of Las Vegas, NV; David Ortega of Pamona, CA; sisters, Rita Lugo of Yuma, AZ and Margaret Elifritz of Gilbert, AZ; seven grandchildren; 8 eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Emilia Ortega; sisters, Fedelia Ramirez, Lucia Ortega and brothers, Mike Ortega, Lencho Ortega, Richard Ortega, and Johnny Ortega.. Rosary will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 7:00 PM. Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 9:00 AM with Monsignor O'Keefe officiating.
