Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Ralph and his family.Ralph Smouse was born on June 1, 1933 in Bayard, Iowa to Miles and Elva Holm Smouse. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy on the USS Boxer during the Korean War. On November 22, 1951, Ralph was united in marriage to Nancy Avery in Des Moines. He had been employed by Dunham-Bush for 10 years and Marshalltown Manufacturing for 15 years. Ralph owned and enjoyed operating Indian Town Collectibles for over 35 years until 2016. Ralph was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed antiques, gardening, pets, visiting with friends and strangers, and above all else, his family.Ralph is survived by his wife of 65 years; Nancy. Children: Julie (Ron) Metz, Jeff (Doris) Smouse and Kathy (Larry Hulse) Smouse-Hulse. Grandchildren: Christopher Metz, Amanda (Matt) Bemer, Ashley Metz, Andrew (September) Miles Hulse, Tayler Hulse, Stephanie Eich, John (Jeni) Eich, Sara (Jason) Stevens and Jordan Wheeler. Great grandchildren: Daphne Bemer, Maximus Stevens, Madelyn Stevens, Morgan Stevens, Steven Eich, Parker Eich and Hayden Eich. He is also survived by other friends and family members.Ralph is preceded in death by his parents Miles and Elva and his two brothers; Richard Smouse and Gary Smouse.
