Mr. Pozy Lindessa Owen, age 93 of Crumpler died on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Margate Health and Rehab Center in Jefferson.

Mr. Owen was born on Oct. 25, 1923 in Ashe County to Luther W. and Myrtie Francis Owen. Mr. Owen was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marie Teresa Owen, a son, Eugene Nelson Owen, a brother, Reeves Owen, sisters, Ethel Stewart, Eula Hamby, and Paralee Baldwin.

Mr. Owen served his country in the Coast Guard during WWII. He worked as a mechanic at Ashe County Motors.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 2pm at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Herb Parunak and Rev. Kevin Jones. Burial followed in the Healing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites.

The family received friends on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Owen is survived by: Daughter, Ellen McCabe of Santa Cruz, CA, Sister, Kada McNeill of Jefferson, Sister, Norette Brinegar of Crumpler, Sister, Terrell Jean Testerman, Sister, Floye Smith of FL; also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Dorothy Ann McCabe, Jim McCabe, and Suzanne (Sky) Murata, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials may be made to the Healing Springs Baptist Church.
