NEWTOWN Phyllis Slick Boyle, 90, passed away February 10, 2015, at Chandler Hall, Newtown. Phyllis was born on January 19, 1925, in Smithsburg, Md. She was the daughter of Susan Smith Slick and Charles Hamilton Slick. She was a 1943 graduate of Smithsburg High School and a 1948 graduate of Temple University. She worked as a Registered Nurse, and she eventually concentrated her career in the geriatric nursing field and nursing home administration. Phyllis was a member of the American Nurses Association, the Pennsylvania Association of Nurses, and the Geriatric Nursing Association. In retirement, she volunteered for Forsight Vision Center of York, and was active in her homeowner's association. She is survived by her husband, John F. Boyle; her three children, Barbara J. McElwain, John F. Boyle, Jr., and Margaret S. Hughes; her seven grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; and her sibling, Sari Kilheffer. She was predeceased by her brothers, Maurice Slick, Richard Slick, Charles Slick, and Joseph Slick. Viewing and memorial service will be in Smithsburg, Md. on March 21, 2015 at the J.L. Davis Funeral Home beginning at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Cavetown, Md.
