Phyllis Jean Hope, age 90, of Battle Creek died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Laurels of Bedford, Battle Creek following a long illness.Mrs. Hope was born on March 21, 1927 in Elkhart, Indiana to Nicholas & Katherine (Roy) Jacobs. She was a lifelong resident of this area. She was raised in the Battle Creek area & then moved to Athens living there for 30 years. In 1996, she returned to Battle Creek living in Springview Tower Apartments & then Laurels of Bedford. Phyllis was a homemaker & she was employed by the Kellogg Company for a short time.On June 30, 1947, she married Maynard Calvin Hope in Battle Creek. He preceded her in death in 1995.Phyllis was a very social person. She loved big family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is remembered by her family as having an adventurous and fun-loving personality. She enjoyed having fun and was a dog lover.She is survived by daughters, Linda (Jim) Voss of Versailles, KY and Lavonne Stein of Battle Creek; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded by husband, parents, a sister, Shirley Brown; and a half brother, Robert Owen. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Burr Oak Cemetery, Athens with Hospice Chaplain Scott Southerland officiating. Arrangements are by the Craig K.
