Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friendNORTH CHELMSFORD, MA -- Phyllis Dorothy (Hartley) Clark, 87, a longtime North Chelmsford, MA resident, passed away on December 2, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Bernard Victor Clark, who passed away in 1997.Phyllis was born on December 26, 1928 in Lowell, MA, the daughter of the late Doris and Clifford Hartley. She spent her childhood and teenage years making wonderful memories with her sister, Joan (Hartley) Meagher, and cousin, Judy (Fisher) Chandonnet. She had fond memories of her time spent in Vermont at the house on the hill and Sylvan Avenue in Chelmsford. For thirty-four years, Phyllis was a Chelmsford
schoolteacher who touched the lives of many of her students, just as they did hers, many of which she remembered throughout her life. Upon retiring from teaching, she volunteered at the Lowell General Hospital front desk and enjoyed morning coffee with her beloved friend, Gertrude Sehlstedt.Above all, Phyllis loved spending quality time with her family and friends. She was quick to offer her love, support, and advice when those she cherished needed it. Phyllis will always be remembered for her witty responses and her facial expressions that needed no words. Phyllis's memories live on through her children, Allan Clark and his wife Gail of Sugar Hill, NH, Bruce Clark and his wife Mary Jo of Chelmsford, JoEllen Clark of Chelmsford, and Carol Lee Collins and her husband Phil of Nashua; her six grandchildren, Justin Clark and his girlfriend Kelli Haines, Travis Clark and his wife Allie, Ryan Carlaw and his wife Mira, Andrew Clark and his fiancé Maria, Danielle Lacorazza and her husband Anthony, Nick Carkin and his girlfriend Kaela, and Eric Clark , and "fur-grandsons", Shadow and Gene; and her four great-grandchildren, Ty Carlaw, Hartley Clark, Bernard Carkin and Kya Carlaw; and her pesky cat, Pepper Jack.
