Peter Lee Taplett Sr., a World War II veteran was born on Oct. 11, 1922, and passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at age 90. He was a native and resident of Houma.Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home in New Orleans. Visitation will also be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at Plymouth Rock Baptist Church in Houma. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in Dewyville Cemetery in Houma. The Rev. Dr. Blair Mitchell will officiate.He was the son of the late Sadie Ringold and Herbert Taplett.He was the beloved husband of Evelyn Stewart Taplett of Houma; the father of Peter Jr., Herbert, and Carnell Taplett, all of Houma; Kennedy Taplett of Houston, Texas, Lennotcha Taplett of San Francisco, Calif., Carolyn (fiance, Ivory Van Johnson) and Evelyn Marie Taplett, all of Houma, and Cynthia (Rudy) Hartman of Houston, Texas; brother of the late Belton, Leroy Gauno and Joseph Taplett; seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.He was a member of Blaine C. Clay Lodge.Gertrude Geddes Willis Funeral Home in New Orleans is in charge of arrangements.
