Perry C. Shellenbarger of Hale passed away at Hale Creek Manor on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, age 88 years. Perry was born on Aug. 18, 1928 in Hale to the late Jess and Elvira (Reilly) Shellenbarger. Perry was a lifelong resident of Hale and was very active in his community. He was a member of Hale Lions Club, a past member of the Plainfield Township Board, Plainfield Township Fire Department, Auctioneers Association, Hale Square Dancing Club and the Iosco County Fair Board. He will be forever remembered as the announcer of Hale Eagles football games, at the Whittemore Speedway, and at horse racing events at several county fairs. Perry enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and socializing with his friends and his family. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Alice (Dooley) Shellenbarger; his five sons, Elite (Nancy) Shellenbarger of Hale, Plynn (Karol) Shellenbarger of Hale, Keyno (Karen) Shellenbarger of East Lansing, Tyson (Terry) Shellenbarger of Hale, and Kyle (Jamie) Shellenbarger of Rapid City; brother, Arnie (Betty) Shellenbarger of Hale; 11 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Perry was preceded in death by his siblings, Buster Shellenbarger, Teenie Attwell, Rene Shellenbarger, Richard Shellenbarger, Nelson Shellenbarger and Lavern Shellenbarger.Services for Perry were held on Saturday, June 24 at noon at First United Methodist Church in Hale with a visitation held two hours prior from 10 a.m. to noon.
