Pamala Dianne Smith, 61, of Nacogdoches passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, in Nacogdoches. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Laird Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with Bro. Dub Holland of Lufkin Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Simpson Campground Cemetery in Woden, Texas. Visitation was held on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Laird Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM. Pamala, also known as "Mamaw" was born on September 7, 1955, to Joseph Stanaland and Geneva Gulley Martin in Nacogdoches, Texas. She grew up in Blackjack and attended Chireno ISD. She met Thomas Smith in downtown Blackjack and were happily married on December 4, 1971. Mamaw loved her family dearly, she enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her wonderful grandchildren. She was known for helping others and making sure everyone was well taken care of. On her down times she loved sewing. She showed her love to her Lord and Savior attending Lufkin Church of Christ. Isaiah 53 was Mamaw's special scripture. She is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Thomas Smith; son, Chris Smith and his wife, Lori; daughter, Karen Goins and her husband, James; brother, Billy Bates and his wife, Lilia; sisters, Beverly Rector and Vickie Hamilton; brother-in-law, Gail Fountain; and seven wonderful grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chris Smith, Jerry Martin, Ricky Martin, Austin Smith, Hunter Smith, and Jacob Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Trae Goins and Logan Goins, and Shawn Fountain.
