Oscar Roy Norris, Jr., 84, a resident of Los Alamos passed away on Jan. 2, 2013.Roy was born on March 11, 1928 in Johnson City, Tenn. to Oscar Roy and Jewel (Booth) Norris. He was the fifth of six children growing up in North Carolina.Roy served in WWII stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Roy came from Carlsbad to Los Alamos in the late 1940's, where he retired from Los Alamos National Labs.Roy was a western history buff. He enjoyed researching his genealogy, boating, camping, treasure hunting and golf. He was a member of the Elk's, VFW, and American Legion. He had a good ride.Roy was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Gail, son Daniel Alan, parents Oscar Roy Sr. and Jewel, brother Raymond, and sister Wilma. Roy is survived by his sons David of Espa?ola, John and wife Becky of Carlsbad; grandchildren Shawn and Dustin; brother David; sisters JoAnn and Lorene of N.C.; numerous other loving relatives & friends.The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Jan. 7, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a graveside service to follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery.
