Oscar D. BroomeOil City, LA - Oscar D. Broome, 91, of Oil City, LA passed away on October 3, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Oil City United Pentecostal Church in Oil City, LA, officiated by Rev. Kent Rhoads. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Oil City, LA. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8 PM on Saturday, October 7th at Oil City United Pentecostal Church.Oscar was born on November 7, 1925 in Weiner, Arkansas to Harvey and Lennie Broome. He lived in Oil City most of his life and was a member of the Oil City United Pentecostal Church. He served in the
United States Navy during
WWII where he received the Victory Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. Oscar worked as a pumper in the oil field. He and his wife Clara were foster parents for many years. Oscar was a member of the "Coffee Club" at Oil City Supply. He loved to coon hunt and play dominos with Maw Maw and Paw Paw Rhoads. He also loved to play Putt-Putt with friends.Oscar is preceded in death by his wife Clara Mae Broome, his two sons, Cecil Ray and Luther Wayne Broome, his two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his children, Shirley Batts and husband B.J. of Oil City, LA, Linda Tullis of Oil City, LA, Dwain Broome and wife Theresa of Oil City, LA, Anne Fincher and husband Aaron of Mira, LA, Jacque Greer and wife Heather of Vivian, LA, John Brown and wife Rebecca of Hallsville, TX, Kristy Grinage and husband Jeffery of Blanchard, LA, and one daughter-in-law, Bobbie Broome of Oil City, LA. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Steven Stanfield, David Stanfield, Josh Owens, Delbert Chumley Jr., Tommy Paul and Mike Beck.
