Opal Joan Ponder, 93, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Bay City, Michigan, passed away January 14, 2020. Joan was born in 1926 in South Bend, Indiana to Dolphus and Opal Patrick. She married Francis Ponder in 1946 and relocated to Bay City, Michigan, where they raised their family.  They enjoy 67 years of marriage. Joan retired from Delta College bookstore after working there for 26 years.  In 1995 Joan and Francis became “snowbirds” and wintered in Bradenton, Florida then became permanent residents in 2010.  Joan’s passing was preceded by her husband, Francis and son Patrick. She is survived by her daughter Jerrie Daly (Russell) and son William; grandchildren Melonie Fischer (William), Jennifer Daly (Allen Evans), Cinde Morris (Christopher) and Grant Ponder; sister, Suanne Crowell, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joan and Francis will be laid to rest in Floral Gardens Cemetery, Bay City, Michigan.  Private graveside services will take place at a later date.
